This weekend, the US is turning Anbar back to Iraq. It was only a couple of years ago that Anbar was Al Qaeda’s base. Today, peace is back and the US Marines can move on to another task.

Over at Hot Air, Ed Morrissey says:
“Before the surge, Anbar had 5,000 police officers, and the mainly Shi’ite Iraqi Army couldn’t hold its positions in the primarily Sunni province.
Now Anbar employs over 37,000 police officers, and a more balanced military has built trust with the local Sunni population, thanks to the assistance of the Americans.
Anbar becomes the 11th province of 18 to transfer to Iraqi control, and the first primarily Sunni province.”
This is a great success story for the US and Iraq. It marks an important turning point in the successful execution of the Iraq mission.
Where are the Democrats on this story?
Most are quiet. They are always quiet when good news comes from Iraq.
Congratulations to each and every US Marine who fought in Anbar. They did it! They did it well!
