People from all over the United States converged on Washington DC today to protest “big government” and all that it involves — reckless spending, irresponsible public debt, intrusive federal control. The gathering was the culmination of an initiative started by Fox News talk show host Glenn Beck six months ago called The 9/12 Project.

Crowd facing the capitol

The American media, little more than shills for the socialists in government, underreported the event. For an accurate assessment, one has to turn to the foreign press. From the London Daily Mail comes this report:

Up to two million people marched to the U.S. Capitol today, carrying signs with slogans such as “Obamacare makes me sick” as they protested the president’s health care plan and what they say is out-of-control spending.

The line of protesters spread across Pennsylvania Avenue for blocks, all the way to the capitol, according to the Washington Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency.

People were chanting “enough, enough” and “We the People.” Others yelled “You lie, you lie!” and “Pelosi has to go,” referring to California congresswoman Nancy Pelosi.

Demonstrators waved U.S. flags and held signs reading “Go Green Recycle Congress” and “I’m Not Your ATM.” Men wore colonial costumes as they listened to speakers who warned of “judgment day” – Election Day 2010….

Meanwhile, Barack Hussein Obama “took it on the lam.” Even though he knew that masses of his constituents were coming to Washington DC, he left town for Minneapolis, Minnesota. There he spoke at the Target Center about health care legislation, using essentially the same empty speech that he had given to Congress last Wednesday.

In an effort to put their darling in the best possible light, the media kept their cameras close in on Obama and the people surrounding him, so that television viewers would not see the rows of empty seats. But a few accidental shots betrayed the true situation. One apologist said that a lot of people didn’t come because they thought they would not be able to get in.

The crowd acted as if they knew they had to come and show support, but they lacked enthusiasm. They clapped dutifully at the appropriate pauses in his speech. Both Obama and the crowd appeared to be trying to keep their courage up.

As recently as Friday, the White House was in complete denial. The Wall Street Journal reported:

White House officials on Friday professed to know nothing of the planned demonstrations. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs queried reporters about the planners and their issues. “I don’t know who the group is,” he said with a shrug.

We fiscal conservatives have a dream too. It is the dream of our founding fathers. We dream of a country where personal liberty is our right from our Creator, and government has no authority to take it away. We dream of an economic system in which hard work and personal responsibility earn us rewards that we can keep. We dream of a federal government that does for us only those things that are impractical to do individually; such as defending the country from outside aggression, regulating commerce among the states, providing a postal service, managing the currency, building a national transportation system. We do not believe in the redistribution of wealth.

We have a dream too. Today we the people brought that dream to the nation’s capital, and we filled the streets as far as the eye could see. (Michelle Malkin captured a live-cam picture of the crowd filling the streets.)

Sunday, Sept. 13 page of American Daughter is one I have waited 4 years for. I never dreamed so much would happen in such a short space of time.

The American people have “someone” looking out for them and their liberty.

    GOD BLESS AMERICA AND AMERICANS!

Thank you for this report. I looked elsewhere in the WDC media and found virtually nothing! Two million marching into Washington, DC should be a considered a story!

We can only hope those in Washington politics in their ignorance and arrogance continue to disregard Tea Party attendees. Axelrod and his commments that TPs do not represent the mainstream is the epitome of both ignorance and arrogance. This makes it much easier to blindside them with an electorial 2×4 come 2010 and 2012. I have never before disrespected the presidential office as I do now. How can you respect someone that would not tell the truth? Joe Wilson missed a key word in his rebuke of ‘Bummer, it should have been “you HABITUALLY lie”, indeed more in fact. And no Ms. Dowd, there is no “boy” attached. What a shriveled vitriolic prune bound hag.
